Sagkeeng First Nation is currently hiring a Human Resources Manager. This position will report to the Director of Operations. The Human Resource Manager is to aid in HR administration to suit the needs of Sagkeeng First Nation. The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for recruitment, selection, retention, reviewing policies and procedures, training and development, performance management, HR staff supervision, employee relations, HR records management and reporting, workforce and succession planning, legal compliance, and risk management.

DUTIES:

  • Create and validate job descriptions
  • Interview candidates
  • Prepare offers of employment
  • Maintaining a smooth onboarding process
  • Developing and updating clear policies and ensuring policy awareness
  • Managing the performance improvement plans
  • Facilitating the employee succession planning process
  • Carrying out necessary administrative duties
  • Maintaining employee and workplace confidentiality
  • Conduct investigations into any employee complaints or concerns brought forward
  • Act as a mediator pertaining to conflict management in the workplace Ensure personal records are maintained ensuring mandatory checks are completed
  • Participate in the workplace safety and health committee, investigate workplace injuries and accidents, and file any reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business Administration degree, Chartered Human Resources Professional(CPI-IR) designation, or related field
  • Five (5) years management experience in field of human resources and/or office operations
  • Proven experience in HR management and competencies
  • Self-aware, empathetic and trustworthy
  • Demonstrated judgment, tact, discretion and ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature
  • Ability to handle conflict, identify developmental needs of employees, and provide coaching and mentoring
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel an asset
  • Possess good working habits (punctuality and attendance)
  • Clear criminal record and abuse registry checks
  • Valid driver's licence and a reliable automobile
