Support Services are offered one-on-one in an effective learning environment all designed to provide a uniquely individual experience. Programs and services include employment services, an adult learning centre, a post-secondary program, on-site daycare, housing services, and a community project funding program. CAHRD offers these programs and services through a combination of in-house, community-based, organizational, and institutional partnerships.
In recognizing the unique challenges faced by Indigenous students attending our education programs, CAHRD offers innovative program supports that promote healthy lifestyle choices. By ensuring that students have the needs of their families taken care of, we interject intergenerational change that will positively affect the parents of today, and their children in the future. We believe in “Creating futures one family at a time!”
Kookum's Place Daycare
Opened in 2002 to meet the needs of parents attending education or training programs, Kookum’s Place Daycare offers two fully licensed centres – the Infant and Preschool Centres. At Kookum’s Place Daycare, each child’s journey is treated with respect, appreciating their cultural background, gender and developmental abilities.
Neeginan Village
Neeginan Village, our student housing, focuses on building community by providing safe and affordable housing for students attending our education and training programs. In addition to housing, we focus on promoting positive lifestyles and well-being by incorporating personal development, nutrition, fitness and gardening programs.
Healthy Living Program
CAHRD is committed to increasing personal health and strengthening our student community. Our Healthy Living Program focuses on three main areas including: The Learning Garden, Aboriginal Bakers Co-op, and Lifestyles for Healthy Living. The program has flexible hours in order to meet the needs of students and their families.
