POSITION TYPE                           CONTRACT, SHIFT WORK

 We have 3 shifts available. 12 hour day shifts, 12 hour overnight awake shifts and 24 hour shifts, this one requires you to sleep at the location.

We support youth between the ages of 12 and 26, and we have 13 locations in total.

 Responsibilities:

  • Providing care for the youth living in our programs
  • Transporting young people to any appointments, therapies, grocery shopping they may need support
  • Maintaining a clean, safe environment for the youth
  • Logging all interactions and activities of each youth
  • Participating in our care plan meetings for an individual when required
  • Teaching/guiding young people how to do life skills such as meal planning, budgeting, grocery shopping, learning resources they can access once they age out, resume building, employment and post- secondary school applications
  • Supporting youth in crisis
  • Encourage any cultural events that are suited to the young person
  • Support youth where they are at in their life, no matter the age

Qualifications required:

  • Understand the stressors of youth in care
  • Work well under pressure
  • Have knowledge of Indigenous culture
  • Have good written skills and strong communication skills
  • Work well in a team setting and have the ability to follow direction when needed
  • Have a basic understanding of addictions and mental health
  • The ability to set boundaries, while still connecting with the youth
  • Be able to obtain a criminal records check, child abuse registry check, adult abuse registry check, CPR & First Aid certificate and have a valid drivers license with a working vehicle

This is an independent contractor’s position, Kildonan Common does not deduct taxes or any other deductions, you are responsible to pay your taxes at the end of the year.
