Background:
The Ma Mawi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking an individual for the youth mentor position for the residence for young males ages 11-14 yrs. old. The site is a six- bed facility that will operate 24 hours 7days a week and offer a range of assessment and support services. Luke’s Place will be a safe and nurturing environment where the young men will have the opportunity to experience a strong sense of caring, support and encouragement while building the capacity to achieve their goals and dreams.
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Residential Care experience would be an asset.
- Supporting Caseload and healing plans and implementing with the adolescent males.
- Provides support/supervision to the residents.
- Program development and facilitation skills.
- Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare Legislation and standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of aboriginal values and community issues.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Must provide Police and Child Abuse checks.
- MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE Class 5
