Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Regional Director - Indigenous Health Services (IHS), the Indigenous Patient Advocate is responsible for receiving and resolving health and human service complaints affecting patients including accepting referrals and receiving complaints or requests for conflict resolution directly from patients.
Experience
- A minimum of three years related work experience with a Master's degree or five years related experience with a BSW or related discipline.
- Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation of programs, writing of reports at both lay and technical levels, proposal writing, working with multi-sectoral partnerships within and beyond the health services sector and implementing programs with community partners.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Master's degree in Social Work, or relevant discipline required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the healthcare field.

Qualifications and Skills
- Working knowledge, experience and proficiency in computers including database applications.
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
- Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and traditional healing practices.
- Exceptional organizational problem-solving skills.
