POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME
Program Facilitators are responsible for developing and facilitating culturally informed programming, life skills enhancing workshops, parenting, and therapeutic groups in all 8 Southeast communities, for young adults who have aged out of Agency care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researching, organizing, supporting and delivering programming that includes but is not limited to: cultural and land-based activities; parenting programs; pre-employment training; life skills enhancing workshops, recreational activities and therapeutic groups.
- Coordinating and managing program referrals.
- Creatively engage and empower program participants while maintaining a safe and accessible environment.
- Build positive and respectful relationships by providing inspiration, support, and guidance.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in social services (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
- Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Anishinaabe cultural beliefs, values, norms, ceremonies, and teachings.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with First Nation communities i.e., leadership, children, families, colleagues, collaterals, as well as have an understanding of the Southeast communities.
- Working knowledge Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook), CFSIS, and IM.
- Proficiency with Internet-related research and work-related applications.
- Ability to speak Ojibwe is an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid drivers’ licence and reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record; Child Abuse Registry; and Prior Contact Check.
- Ability to travel to communities on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
