Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Education and Training, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall design, delivery, management and organization of the Community Service and Teacher Development Program. This hybrid education and training program is designed for people interested in careers in community service and/or education, but may face barriers to employment and need extra assistance to succeed. The Program Coordinator will ensure that participants learn the fundamentals of child development, how children process information and learn, group supervision and management, de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques. As well as Indigenous perspectives, wellness, communication, advocacy, and leadership development. Responsibilities include coordination of program activities and ensuring the successful delivery of the program to Indigenous adult learners. The successful incumbent will have the experience and skills necessary to provide leadership for the program, staff and students.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver the CTSWP and ensure that it meets individual needs
  • Create a program plan which identifies activities needed to successfully complete the program and ensure they are in compliance with program objectives
  • Monitor implementation of program policies and practice
  • Create an innovative and supportive learning environment
  • Coordinate interactions/foster relationships between staff, clients, administrators and all other program stakeholders
  • Create and Maintain strong working relationships with the partnering school divisions
  • Work to keep program on schedule, within stated budgets and functioning smoothly
  • Provide supervision, leadership and coordination to the CTWSP staff
  • Manage human resources issues with support from the Human Resource department such as; recruitment and selection of staff, progressive discipline, collective agreement, performance evaluations, payroll information, professional development, policies and delegation
  • Responsible for training new employees in accordance with established policies and procedures and reviews training policy as required with staff
  • Manage staff work assignments, workloads and work schedules
  • Ensure a welcoming, safe and collaborative environment for staff and students
  • Provide direct support to students as issues arise, identify required student supports
  • Advocate on behalf of students, including providing student guidance and academic advising
  • Provide purchase order forms and suggested resource materials
  • Ensure program resources are available and maintain an inventory of program resources and equipment
  • Complete required program reporting including statistical data, attendance and enrollment, student progress and partnership reports
  • Work in cooperation with other CAHRD departments, agencies and organizations
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of CAHRD
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience as a Program Coordinator or relevant position
  • Sw, B.Ed, BA or similar training or relevant field, or relevant combination of education and experience
