CONTRACTOR POSITION

(CAHRD) Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc. is a not-for-profit Indigenous-controlled organization dedicated to relieving and preventing unemployment among Aboriginal people in Winnipeg. We provide adult education, professional and technical skills training, employment counseling, and job placement services. Our comprehensive approach includes ancillary services such as on-site daycare, student housing, counseling, and health and wellness programming to ensure the success of our clients. Our vision is to empower Aboriginal people with economic prosperity and self-sufficiency.

CAHRD requires a Contractor to develop a curriculum, including a full range of engaging and interactive activities, for a Community Service and Teacher Development Program (CSTDP). The purpose of the CSTDP is to introduce and prepare Indigenous adults for careers as teacher assistants and in community development. This program is a comprehensive, year-long preparation, skills training, and work experience initiative targeting underemployed Indigenous adults who are keen on pursuing careers in the education and community development sectors.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create a comprehensive curriculum for the CTSWP that includes course objectives, outlines, lesson plans, and teaching material.
  • Collaborate with CAHRD staff and external partners to design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for the CTSWP
  • Incorporate Indigenous knowledge, culture, and perspectives throughout the curriculum to ensure its relevance and cultural safety
  • Conduct research and gather resources to support the development of course materials
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that promote skill development and critical thinking
  • Ensure alignment with the objectives and goals of the CTSWP and the overall strategic plan
  • Regularly review and update the curriculum based on participant feedback, program evaluations, and emerging best practices
