Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Neurodevelopmental Services, the CSL – SLP leads the development and delivery of comprehensive and high-quality services including:
- Provision of FASD assessment services (primary caseload), consultation, leadership and mentorship as part of FASD interdisciplinary diagnostic team.
- In collaboration with Director/Manager provide clinical supervision, support and team development SLPs throughout RCC.
- Coordination of research and development of best practice guidelines throughout RCC’s SLP services (FASD assessment, ASD Assessment, Relate Program, AAC and out-patient).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes good interpersonal relationships by modelling professional behavior and practice.
- Responsible for the provision of client care including diagnostic consultation, mentorship, assessment, intervention and/or follow up as required of children, up to 17 years of age, referred for a FASD assessment.
- In collaboration with Director/Manager, participates in the supervision of SLP staff including recruitment, orientation, mentoring, quality assurance and performance evaluation.
- Coordinates and monitors education for the staff, develops and/or delivers educational workshops and resources and organizes SLP student placements.
- Leads the development of best practice guidelines for the activities of the service/discipline in collaboration with Director/Managers and other staff.
- Fosters and supports an environment of clinical inquiry, research, program development, continual evaluation.
- Liaison with other clinical leads across the province.
Education, Licenses, Registration & Experience:
Required
- Clinical Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
- Registration with CASLPM.
- Minimum five (5) years’ recent and relevant experience in Pediatric services.
Preferred
- Graduate degree at the master’s level (non-clinical) in the field or related health or health management field.
- Knowledge of the healthcare system including experience in leadership, supervision, waitlist management, quality improvement, research, and development of evidence-informed practice guidelines.
- Experience in a wide range of SLP practices such as FASD Assessment, ASD Assessment, AAC, RELATE and out-patient or outreach SLP assessment and treatment preferred.
- Experience developing, organizing, delivering, and evaluating educational events for adult learners.
- Ability to work effectively independently and experience leading or working within an inter-disciplinary team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to foster a collaborative practice environment.
Conditions of hire:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and able to present a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (Including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.
- Must be willing to travel with overnight stays to First Nations and/or other Provincial Communities, which would include some evening and weekend work.
