POSITION TYPE                           PERMANENT, FULL-TIME

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Recruit local community members for House Parent, Respite, and Support Worker roles.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for homes and House Parents, providing ongoing support.
  • Work closely with the Northern Care Program Support Work Coordinator and Case Managers.
  • Provide transportation to and from the airport, community store, and Northern Care Program office/accommodations.
  • Conduct weekly home visits to maintain awareness and provide support to the homes.
  • Supervise children in the home for short periods when necessary.
  • Conduct unannounced home visits at the request of Case Managers, Supervisors, or Program Managers.
  • Assist Respite and Support Workers with time sheet completion and submission to the Support Work Coordinator.
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings in Winnipeg.
  • Ensure timely submission of monthly individual reports from House Parents.
  • Manage accommodation by cleaning, organizing, preparing, and submitting Work Orders for any needed repairs, and ensure homes are stocked with essentials through communication with the Visiting Home Coordinator.
  • Maintain positive and consistent communication with Southeast Child and Family Services (SECFS).
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with community-based resources and programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations cultures, and traditional values.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a community-based environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in Ojibway considered an asset.
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, with the ability to provide a clear driver’s abstract.
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment. (Note: These checks do not automatically disqualify candidates from employment.)
