POSITION

1x1 architecture inc. is seeking an experienced ARCHITECT or ARCHITECTURAL INTERN to join our team. Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of experience delivering quality institutional and commercial projects and enjoy working in a collaborative work environment. We are looking for candidates that have solid design skills, thorough knowledge of building systems, building code and detailing and exceptional skills in the production and coordination of contract documents and specifications. Additional skills we are seeking include experience with feasibility studies, building condition reports, building documentation, functional programming and construction administration services.

Candidates should have strong CAD experience, be self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic and be able to operate independently and collaboratively managing assigned projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting in Design Development: Collaborating with senior architects on conceptual and schematic designs.
  • Drafting and Modeling: Creating and modifying architectural drawings using software like AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
  • Conducting Research: Gathering information on building codes, zoning laws, and materials to support project development.
  • Site Visits: Assisting with site inspections to document conditions and gather data for projects.
  • Preparing Presentations: Helping create visual presentations and materials for client meetings or design reviews.
  • Supporting Project Management: Aiding in project coordination tasks, including timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with team members and other disciplines, such as engineers and contractors, to ensure project alignment.
  • Documentation: Maintaining organized project files and documentation for reference and compliance.
  • Participating in Meetings: Attending team meetings to contribute ideas and learn about project progression.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Experience: minimum 5 years working in an architecture firm.
  • Education: Masters of Architecture degree or equivalent.
  • Must have, or be eligible to hold, Architectural license within the province of Manitoba.
  • Computer Capabilities: Vectorworks or Autodesk Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite.
  • LEED accreditation and project experience in providing sustainable projects are preferred skills.
