Background:
Under the responsibility of the Team Lead and in accordance with the Centre’s philosophy and principles for service the H.O.M.E Heart Helper will assume responsibility for providing comprehensive support and holistic services aimed at empowering youth and facilitating their healing journey. The H.O.M.E Heart Helper is passionate, committed, and engaged in improving the lives of young Indigenous women and families.
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Understanding of Indigenous values and community issues.
- Group care and/or healing lodge experience would be an asset.
- Care and healing plan development and implementing with the young woman.
- Experience providing support/supervision for youth.
- Ability to promote life skill development by providing guidance and support for youth to develop practical life skills that can help them function more independently and confidently in daily life.
- Understanding of program implementation and facilitation skills.
- Experience liaising and consulting with collateral agencies with regards to specific youth or service concerns in general.
- Incumbent must be aware of the impact and effects of trauma on the lives of the young women and be able to establish relationships to build on trust and genuine caring.
- Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
- Ability to work under stressful situations as part of a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
