POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME
OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Executive Director, you will provide leadership to the Care Program service delivery team. This includes the progression of program operations according to organizational policy and the strategic direction set out by the Board of Directors and Stakeholders.
As part of the Management Team, your tasks will include:
- Recruiting and selecting staff with skills and experience required to support effective and compassionate service delivery approaches.
- Providing coaching and supervision to the Program Supervisors.
- Overseeing and evaluating staff performance in accordance with assigned duties, organization standards and goals.
- Maintaining awareness and responsiveness to our First Nation’s family and community needs and goals.
- Ensuring that culturally relevant practices rooted in First-Nation’s world views are utilized and supported by staff through the co-development of policy and service practices.
- Collaborating on New Resource Development focused on the specific needs of our children, young people, and families.
- Completing accurate and concise documentation including monthly reports, community reports, and special reports.
- Managing program data and supporting team compliance with statistical reporting and completion of required reviews, including foster care licensing, customary care and kinship agreements, or First Nations-determined requirements.
- Analyzing program statistics to provide information to the Board of Directors and strategize service.
- Conducting ongoing program development in compliance with the stands set out by the member First Nations communities and governing bodies.
- Building and managing department budgets and prepare funding proposals when necessary.
- Setting an example of healthy, effective communication and leadership to support a positive and responsible workplace environment that yields results.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of post-secondary MSW or BSW with 5 years of related experience.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of First Nations experiences, culture, and world views.
- The ability to speak Anishinaabe is a preferred asset.
- Understanding of community living at First Nations, including remote-access communities.
- Experience developing and supporting a strong, efficient, and respectful team-based approach to service delivery.
- Understanding First Nations child and family law development goals, and the provincial Child and Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation.
- Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and team skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications.
- Willingness to travel and respond to emergencies as a part of our on-call system.
- Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment.
