A firm that specializes in Indigenous Engagement, building strategies between Indigenous communities and industry as they seek to maximize opportunities and protect interests in a mutually beneficial relationship is seeking a motivated Marketing Communication Coordinator to join their team. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the community outreach and promotion on and off reserve.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the creation and distribution of various communications materials targeted to both internal and external audiences
  • Work with Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure successful completion and execution of communications strategy
  • Network with employers, media outlets and community administration to promote program and initiative
  • Gather, research and utilize community-based best practices to ensure cultural awareness, respect and sensitivity are being executed
  • Participate in urban/community-based events & build relationships with Chief & Council/Administration team, project partners, employers, clients and staff
  • Manage the relationship and communications between Indigenous communities, contractors, clients and third party vendors
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding are being executed throughout organization
  • Write and edit press releases, news updates, project reports and other documents
  • Manage, schedule and coordinate community visits and project meetings
  • Assist with various public relations activities and functions
  • Work closely with Graphic Designer/Social Media Officer to assist with social media activities and online presence by taking pictures/videos at events and within communities
  • Manage, monitor and respond to media requests and coverage, including online and physical publications
  • Research and gather information for news releases, progress reports and updates
  • Assist in the development & creation of information packages, brochures, infographics and other marketing materials
  • Obtain vendor quotes for various print collateral and promotional materials
  • Maintain marketing budget and develop progress reports & spreadsheets pertaining to communications outreach strategy
  • Support event planning at industry trade shows, sponsored community events, and internal company events
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, practicing cultural awareness
  • Knowledge or education in indigenous studies/cultural awareness an asset
  • 3 – 5 years of professional communications and PR experience
  • Proficient with all social media platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining superior attention to detail
  • Resourcefulness, creativity and strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Valid Class 5 Full Driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Bilingual in English and French would be an asset
