Duties:

Under the direction of the Manager, Protection of Persons in Care Office, the Intake and Database Clerk is responsible for the intake, triage and assessment of reports of alleged abuse and neglect and ensuring data is inputted into the database in a timely and accurate manner. As a first point of contact, this position provides information and assistance to the general public, staff at healthcare facilities, persons in care, and their families. Working collaboratively as part of a team, this position receives highly confidential inquiries, which requires strong organizational and time management skills to effectively deliver client services in a high volume environment.  While carrying out these duties, the Clerk will be responsible for database input and administration.

This position is designated bilingual. Candidates under consideration from the interview process may be required to undergo a French language skills assessment.

This position requires a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector search and/or Adult Abuse Registry Check. Candidates are responsible for any service charges.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience providing excellent service in a client-focused environment
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French)
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Ability to take initiative in the workplace
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience working with databases.
