POSITION TYPE.............................:        TERM, PART-TIME, 17.5 HOURS/WEEK

One of the city's leading youth-serving agencies, operating in areas across the city that need their services for over 40 years is seeking a part time Human Resources Coordinator for a term position.

Reporting to the Controller, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for providing human resource functions in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures to all levels of the Agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Update a performance management process inclusive of analyzing training needs to design employee development programs; update job descriptions and create new ones as required; identify staff vacancies and assist with recruiting, interviewing and selecting applicants; provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, duties and working conditions and wages, policies and procedures; advise directors and managers on organizational policy matters; mediation; employee relations; foster and maintain a positive work morale; maintain records concerning personnel-related data such as hires, performance appraisals and absenteeism, Workplace Safety and Health and serve as the payroll back up as required.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or college diploma majoring in Human Resources
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a generalist role
  • Payroll experience (PayWorks an asset)
  • Ability to motivate, encourage people and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of change management processes
  • Workplace Safety and Health committee experience
  • Proven policy writing capabilities
  • Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Professional, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to function independently with minimum supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Non-profit experience
  • An understanding of the cultural environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships with all levels in the organization
  • Belief and commitment to the Agency’s mission and values
