A family advocate office through an organization of First Nations leaders in Manitoba seeks to fill one (1) full-time Family Support Coordinator position. Reporting directly to the First Nations Family Advocate, the Family Support Coordinator will take a lead role in developing a community support network for First Nation families currently or previously involved with the Manitoba Child and Family Services (CFS) system.

Duties include connecting with Advocate Office clients and directing them to appropriate community support services that will assist in family reunification and strengthen the family unit, building working relationships with various community organizations, delivering group presentations and other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in human and social services or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the Manitoba child welfare system;
  • Knowledge of community support services and programs;
  • Experience working with First Nations and in First Nation communities;
  • Knowledge of First Nation issues related to the CFS system and health services;
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills;
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; and
  • Fluency in an indigenous language is an asset.
