The Community Service Delivery Division develops programs and provides services that support individuals with intellectual disability. The division manages community-based offices in partnership with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), ACCESS centres, and health and social development centres in Winnipeg. Through these offices, the public can receive services including: Children’s disABILITY Services, Community Living disABILITY Services, Residential Care Licensing, Family Conciliation Services, Employment and Income Assistance (EIA), marketAbilities, and Child and Family Services.

Duties:

Reporting to the Community Social Service Supervisor (CSSS), the incumbent provides case management services to individuals and/or families who are accessing services in the Children’s disABILITY Services programs and/or Community Living disABILITY Services. The incumbent works as a member of an established service delivery team and uses sound independent judgement. The incumbent uses the professional application of social work theory and methods to deliver discipline-based services and intervention strategies with individuals and families.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Post-secondary degree in a social sciences field (BSW preferred)
  • Case management experience in an integrated services environment that includes brief counselling, conducting assessments, service planning and coordination, resource development and follow-up. Other acceptable combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered on an underfill basis at a commensurate rate of pay
  • Experience working with children with disabilities or vulnerable adults and their families, providing supports based on the individual needs of the participants
  • Experience conducting risk assessments with participants and their family members
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively resolve conflict; interacts sensitively and respectfully in a non-judgmental manner with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with crisis intervention and protection services
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team

Desired:

  • Good understanding of the Children's disABILITY Services programs and the Community Living disABILITY Services programs

  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle to travel for business purposes
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
