Winnipeg Child and Family Services (WCFS) provides a comprehensive continuum of child protection and family support services in Winnipeg in accordance with The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act. Winnipeg Child and Family Services partners with the community to provide supportive and preventive services to families; provides protection services to children at risk of abuse and neglect; develops and provides basic and specialized placement services to meet the needs of children in care; provides preservation and reunification services to families; and provides adoptive and post-adoptive services along with guardianship responsibilities to children, youth and families when reunification is no longer an option. They are currently seeking a qualified candidate for an Administrative Secretary position.


Reporting to the Administrative Services Manager, the Administrative Secretary is responsible for a broad range of administrative, secretarial and clerical support including reception, document tracking, attendance, drafting correspondence, managing client files and providing one to one client contact in person and over the phone to relay information.



  • Experience providing administrative, secretarial and clerical support, such as: meeting coordination, receiving, logging and distributing mail, screening and directing inquiries (both in person and phone), and ordering supplies
  • Experience maintaining paper and electronic filing and tracking systems
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accuracy when formatting, editing and proofing documents
  • Ability to work with highly confidential material
  • Effective organizational and time management skills including the ability to establish priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)


  • Experience using database systems such as Microsoft Access, SAP, etc.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position which includes bending down and lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Willing to work at, and have the ability to travel to, various locations within the Winnipeg area
